The Worst SEO Strategies Ever!
August 24th, 2007There is no perfect SEO strategy. If you put the same primary keyword phrase in your title tag, H1 tag, bold text, alt tag, once in every paragraph, your web page will likely be considered as created for search engines. Google is too smart for that. In SEO world, imperfection makes perfection!
There are a few Don’t search engine optimization strategies you may like to pay attention:
- Do not get involved with some kind of reciprocal link trading and other bottom feeder links, this is just not so effective. Even though these links are related to your niche, you don’to score much from this.
- Do not put your keyword in alt tag more than twice in the same page. For example, if you have ‘google pagerank’ and ’search engine pagerank’ already in your alt tag in the same page, you don’t want to add ‘pagerank solution’ in another alt tag.
- Everyone knows keyword stuffing is not the right practice. I don’t understand why I still see it happens. When I browse those articles in ezinearticles.com submitted by people, I see the same keyword phrase can happen 12 times or more in a 500 words article. Maybe those people think only 100 times is considered stuffing, 12 times is not? Try not to stuff your keyword phrase more than 5 times in a 500 words article. And these include once at the first paragraph and once at the end of the page.
- Unless you have good link popularity, otherwise do not leave your web page less than 400 words. Google loves content. If you see those website with less than 400 words and still appear in the 1st position of the search result, that’s because they have many links.
- Don’t use poison words such as those keywords for 18+ age or keywords related to illegal matters.
- Don’t do auto pop up window for your website. Have you noticed websites you found from Google search results usually are very clean. They don’t have many auto pop up windows. Sometimes you still find some have 1 pop up, and that’s it. Search engines are trying very hard to filter these sites with more than 1 pop up. So, 1 pop up is ok? I would say clean page with no pop up at all get better scores.
- Don’t build 500 links overnight. Your link profile has to look natural. If people offer you 29.99 for 1,000 links, you should be careful. Although Google says backlinks should in no way would harm you ( in case those links are built by your competitors, Google choose to protect you in the factors you can not control) , but you don’t want to spend 29.99 for something not helpful.
- Do not use any kind of redirect except 301 permanent redirect.
The above information is pretty advanced. Professional SEO should know about that. If you are a beginner in SEO and want to learn the basics, you may want to research on the blog which teaches basics search engine optimization techniques. There are a lot of sites are teaching people how and what to put in their title tags, description tag, contents, and alt tag.
After all Google SEO is about link building. Thounsands of quality sites are pointing at you with anchor text ’smart kids’, you will be ranked as number 1 in the ’smart kids’ search even though you may not mention the term ’smart kids’ at all in our page. Of course this page should be related to ’smart kids’ because Google also consider the user experience. If searchers click into your site from search results and stay long in your site, it is considered as good user experience.
